About the Author

Joseph Robert Paradis was born in Arlington, Massachusetts in 1954, the second of four children.  With good grades and an incessant sense of humor, he was able to both please and dismay the St. Joseph nuns who taught him through 12 years of parochial school.

While he dreamed of writing professionally ever since Miss Boyle’s 5th Grade English class, life took him down other paths.  He served brief stints as an electrician and locksmith after high school, and four years in South Korea with the U.S. Air Force “intelligence community”, before obtaining a BS degree in Business Management from Suffolk University and an MBA from Boston University.

He moved to Londonderry, New Hampshire in 1984, pursuing a career in the rather dry world of business operations, until he discovered the more robust environs of sales and marketing, where his writing and “jabbering” skills were put to better use.  An avid community volunteer, he has also served, in several capacities, as an elected town official - or “politician”, a word he hates.

In 2004, Joe began writing a weekly humor column for his local community newspaper, The Londonderry Times.  That column, Joe’s Two Cents, earned him accolades as Humor Columnist of the Year, for both 2005 and 2006, from the New Hampshire Press Association.  Its stories are the basis for his first book, Joe's Two Cents - It's Great to Be Alive!

Joe’s ultimate desire is to spread the news that humor is a tremendous asset and should be present in all aspects of our lives.  He is currently developing seminars to this affect, particularly on humor in the workforce, and expects to soon teach creative writing and humor in an educational environment as well.  Not really a shy guy, Joe has also become active on the speaker circuit for various business, social, and educational engagements.  Other than all of that, he hasn’t been doing much lately.

Joe still lives in Londonderry, New Hampshire with his wife of 23 years, Joanne, and their children, Robert and Danielle, who are both ready to spread their own wings soon.  Blessed (or cursed?) with their father’s dry sense of humor, we expect they will certainly survive.
